DOLCETA
(Development of On-Line Consumer Education Tools for Adults) is a
web-based consumer education platform targeting trainers and other
multipliers in consumer education, as well as consumers who would like to
learn more about their rights. The DOLCETA web-portal, funded by the
European Commission, aims to raise the level of awareness and
understanding of European consumer rights among the EU adult population.
It consists of two modules: (1) a general module on basic consumer rights
and the advantages of the internal market and redress possibilities and
(2) a module specifically on financial services. The website gives
consumers the necessary competences to compare products and services on
the market, to decide on purchases and to defend their rights as
consumers.
The Consumer and Competition Division (CCD) of the Ministry for
Competitiveness and Communication and the Malta Financial Services
Authority were involved in the adaptation of material for Maltese
consumers accessing the DOLCETA site.
DOLCETA was launched in June 2005 and can be accessed through the
