Consumer Education Tools For Adults Online

DOLCETA (Development of On-Line Consumer Education Tools for Adults) is a web-based consumer education platform targeting trainers and other multipliers in consumer education, as well as consumers who would like to learn more about their rights. The DOLCETA web-portal, funded by the European Commission, aims to raise the level of awareness and understanding of European consumer rights among the EU adult population.

It consists of two modules: (1) a general module on basic consumer rights and the advantages of the internal market and redress possibilities and (2) a module specifically on financial services. The website gives consumers the necessary competences to compare products and services on the market, to decide on purchases and to defend their rights as consumers.

The Consumer and Competition Division (CCD) of the Ministry for Competitiveness and Communication and the Malta Financial Services Authority were involved in the adaptation of material for Maltese consumers accessing the DOLCETA site.

DOLCETA was launched in June 2005 and can be accessed through the following link: www.dolceta.eu .

If you would like more information about DOLCETA, please contact the following persons:

  • Ms Barbara Buttigieg (barbara.r.buttigieg@gov.mt) with regards to Module 1; and

  • Dr Isabelle Agius (iagius@mfsa.com.mt) with regards to Module 2.
