Angele Galea St John – Head, Authorisation
Angele Galea St John was appointed Director of the MFSA’s Authorisation department in August 2014. She currently manages a multi-disciplinary team and coordinates the processing of all financial services applications falling within the remit of the MFSA. She represents the MFSA on committees of the European Supervisory Authorities and in other expert working groups, both locally and internationally.
Angele has over 20 years of experience in financial services regulation. Prior to this appointment, she was credited with the set-up and implementation of the onsite inspection programme within the Insurance Supervision. She led the on-site inspection team and coordinated a number of regulatory policy changes following engagement with various stakeholders. She was previously a member of the Accountancy Board which is responsible for regulating the accountancy profession in Malta.
Angele is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master of Science Degree in Risk Management from the Glasgow Caledonian University. She lectures at the University of Malta and has contributed to international academic publications on governance and regulation.
