Michael Xuereb – Head, Regulatory Development

Michael Xuereb was appointed to the current position of Head of the Regulatory Development in 2010 with responsibilities for regulatory and macro-prudential policy developments, systemic risk monitoring and cross-sectoral market analysis.

Joining the MFSA in 2000, he had since held the posts of Director Communications and Director Strategic Development.

Graduating with a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 1986 and holding a Masters degree in Financial Services, Dr Xuereb started his career as Counsel for the Republic at the Attorney General’s office. Before joining the MFSA he occupied the position of General Manager within the Malta Development Corporation for several years. In the course of his career he served on various boards in the public-private sector, amongst them, the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, Finance Malta and Malta Industrial Parks Ltd, and has lectured in various institutions including the University of Malta.
