Simon Bonett – Head, Finance
Simon Bonett was appointed as Head of the MFSA’s Finance in April 2019, bringing with him over 15 years’ experience in the area. Mr. Bonett joined the Authority in June 2016 as the Deputy Head of the Conduct Supervision following a career in banking spanning nearly 34 years. During the latter 17 years of his banking career with one of the world’s leading multi-national banks, he has also occupied various senior positions in Markets and Operations.
As Deputy Head of the Conduct Supervision Unit, he focussed on the supervision of Investment Firms, leading onsite inspections with emphasis on investor protection. He has also represented the MFSA on the Supervisory Convergence Standing Committee of the European Securities and Markets Authority.
Mr. Bonett graduated in B.A. (Hons.) Accountancy from the University of Malta in 1990. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants.
